Alex Kelly

Cellist | Composer | Conductor | Electronic Musician | Ethnomusicologist

As a cellist, Alex Kelly has performed throughout the United States and Canada for the past ten years. In the past three years, he has premiered almost one-hundred solo and mixed chamber works. His versitily is demonstrated in his variety of styles, which range from renaissance to romantic, from avante garde to pop. He has studied Baroque cello and performance practice and has improvisation experience with acoustic and electric cellos.

Alex's compositions have been performed throughout the United States. He has performed his compositions in a variety of venues, including multimedia performances with video, live music, and dance. Currently he is preparing a solo album in which he plays cello, electric cello, guitar, piano, violin, string bass, igil (a Tuvan string instrument), uses computer sound synthesis, and sings in traditional styles as well as the Tuvan throat singing style. Alex is also recording an album of his favorite movements from the Bach Cello Suites.
